This project was carried out to assist a old man who has also lost his sight in salvaging his dilapidated home. The project’s aim was to renovate and provide proper shelter for Mallam Inuwa which also falls within the scope of Angels of Hope Foundation’s mission in the provision of shelter to orphans, traumatized women and people with special disabilities.
Mallam Inuwa who owns a 2 bedrooms mud house in Warure settlement in the ancient city of Kano state barely had a roof over his head with huge cracks in the walls of the rooms which were completely inhabitable and unsafe especially during the raining season.
After proper inspection of the site by the state chapter under the leadership and vision of the Kano state coordinator, a feasibility study was carried out to come up with an estimated cost for repairs and to see if it was a project the chapter could champion. A total cost of 200,000.00 came out as the initial estimate and the foundation through several social media outlets solicited for donations from the general public using the #Helpmallaminuwa hashtag.
The campaign was a huge success and the amount was raised within a matter of days and implementation began almost immediately. However, in the course of executing the project additional costs were incured in costs of building materials, damages to some and even repairs which were not initially planned for and that took the overall cost of the renovation to 255,000.00.
The foundation was able to finance the could champion. additional costs of repairs on its own. The project was executed within a short period of 4 weeks between June 13th, 2018 to July 14th 2018.
