RAMADAN: Angels Of Hope Foundation Commenced Feeding Thousands Orphans, Others Across Nigeria
In its relentless effort to assuage the plight of the less fortunes, the Angels of Hope Foundation has at the weekend commenced its annual nationwide Ramadan feeding programme in Kano. The foundation planned to feed thousands of orphans, people with special disabilities and traumatised women across Nigeria before the end of the holy month.
Commonly across the Muslim communities, every Ramadan, those with means enjoy the luxury of tasty ‘iftaar’ dinners, beautifully prepared as they sit down with their families at the end of the fasting day. It is often a time of great joy as fasts are broken together with friends & family.
To also make the orphans, traumatised women and people with special disabilities feel the taste of this delicious evening meal (Iftaar), the foundation carefully chose certain days within the glorious month to carry out feeding exercises across states and localities in Nigeria. The event commenced on Sunday, 12th June at Tudun-Maliki Boarding school Kano, where about 1,328 people were fed. The exercise was planned to extend to states like Niger, Lagos, Kebbi, Kaduna, Sokoto, Borno and others in the coming days.
The month of Ramadan has unique ability to generate an increased amount of compassion and mercy in the hearts of people across the world. The foundation which focused on helping the orphans, traumatised women and people with special disabilities, acknowledged that some of these people are fasting and yet, due to difficult circumstances, do not have the means to have an evening meal (Iftaar), hence the need to provide for them, which is a great service to humanity and truly embody the empathy that is inherent in the glorious month.
The founder, Omar Naveed held that “Last year the foundation fed over thousand orphans, traumatised women and people with special disabilities. This year, we planned to feed even more numbers across Nigeria”
“We gave out raw food packages; which include rice, sugar, oil, spaghetti, and noodles among other things. We also cooked delicious meals and packaged in disposable plastics so that it can be easily distributed to the fasting Orphans.
“The foundation has coordinators in most states across the country and part of their responsibilities is to strategically trace the location of these set of people on our radar, identify their most pressing needs and supply them base on our capabilities”
“Our doors are open to everyone who wishes to support the cause and put smiles on the faces of these peopole”
Makkiyya Suleiman Muhammad, member of the foundation said “Our target is to reach out to people with special disabilities, traumatised women, orphans including those in remote places to support them in various ways” she added that “so far we have achieved a lot and still doing because helping others is a function that mollifies the heart”
You will recalled recently, the Angel of Hope Foundation (AHF) held an event tagged “Harmony Fair, Trade Exhibition and Fun Fair” in Kano to support charity and showcased the Talents of various Entrepreneurs across diverse range of industries in Nigeria.
